Getting from the airport to the Red Lion Hotel (at 1415 5th Ave) and back

• Taxi: From the airport to the hotel cab fare ranges from $30 to about $45 depending on traffic and the time of day. From the hotel to the airport, city ordinance dictates a flat rate of $28 plus a $1 fuel surcharge.

• Grayline Downtown Airporter : Fare is $10.25 one way or $17 roundtrip. It leaves every half hour.

  • From the airport: Ticket booth is at the very south end of baggage claim area, door 001. You can purchase tickets there and take the bus to the downtown area. The nearest drop-off location is the Sheraton Hotel (less than 2 blocks away). If you have heavy luggage, or difficulty walking, it is possible to ask the bus driver to arrange for an airport connector to transport you to the Red Lion Hotel on 5th Avenue.
  • From the hotel: Walk to the Sheraton Hotel. Tickets may be purchased from the bus driver. The Red Lion Bellman can also arrange for a connector to pick you up at the hotel and drop you off at the Sheraton. This needs to be done 1 hour in advance.

• Bus: This is your cheapest option (a few bucks): Metro Bus 174 goes from the airport (SEATAC) to downtown Seattle and back. (It arrives at University and 4th Ave and leaves from Stewart and 4th Ave. Both of these locations are within 4 blocks of the hotel which is at 5th and Pine. See bus route map .)

• Rental Car: We don't recommend renting a car during the conference unless you are planning trips out of town. Most everything you need should be within walking distance of the hotel (and parking downtown can be a pain.) If you do choose to rent a car, the rental car company will give you a map and directions to downtown Seattle, but in a nutshell, you need to get onto I5 north, take the Seneca St Exit 165 on the left, turn slight left onto Seneca, right onto 4th Ave, right onto Pike St. and right onto 5th Ave. The hotel will be immediately on your right.
